Virtual phone numbers in Singapore
Singapore is a short catalogue. Two number formats are available under country code 65: a mobile number that receives SMS, and a toll-free number on the 800 range. There is no city voice number in the Singapore inventory. Singapore is not divided into area codes in our system, so there is nothing to choose between a downtown number and a suburban one. What you choose between is text messages and free inbound calling.
There is no Singapore landline-style number
This is the first thing to check, because it is the reason many enquiries about Singapore end quickly. If you need an ordinary geographic Singapore number that customers can call and that you answer as a normal business line, we cannot supply it here. The toll-free 800 number is the only way to receive calls on a Singapore number through us. If a geographic number is essential to your plan, look at the country list for a destination where local voice numbers are in stock. Neighbouring Malaysia, for example, has city numbers in Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang.
The SMS number: no paperwork, higher rent
One Singapore option receives text messages, on the mobile prefix 123. It costs 25 USD to set up and 40 USD per month. No documents of any kind are requested for it. That combination is worth understanding before you order: you pay nothing in paperwork and comparatively more in monthly rent. The number is for text only and will not accept calls, which matters if a service you are registering with falls back to a voice call when the SMS does not arrive. Our overview of SMS numbers covers what these numbers can and cannot do.
The 800 toll-free number: full paperwork, lower rent
The Singapore toll-free number sits on the 800 range and costs 65 USD to set up with 25 USD per month afterwards. The pricing runs the opposite way to the SMS number. It is more than twice as expensive to start, and then 15 USD per month cheaper to hold. Over a year of use the toll-free number is the less costly of the two Singapore products, so if you are deciding between them, decide on how long you intend to keep the number rather than on the entry price. See our toll-free numbers page for how inbound charging works.
Documents for the toll-free number
Individuals and companies can both hold a Singapore toll-free number. You will be asked for a full name, a contact phone number, a passport or national ID, a postal address and proof of that address. Companies additionally provide a company name and a certificate of incorporation. Note what is not on that list: the address does not have to be a Singapore address. You are proving who you are and where you can be reached, not that you are resident in the country. That makes the Singapore toll-free number reachable for a business based abroad that wants Singaporean customers to call without paying.
Allow up to 24 hours for activation once your documents have been reviewed. The SMS number, having no documents to review, is the faster of the two to start, but it is still not immediate.
FAQ
The “For registration” label indicates that there are no restrictions on receiving SMS with these numbers, and they can receive the same SMS as regular SIM cards. However, we cannot guarantee SMS delivery from all services, as this is beyond our control. For instance, we have no influence over services like Google, which may not accept UK numbers (+447XXXXXXXX) for account registration.
Additionally, due to recent restrictions imposed by Twitter, we cannot guarantee SMS delivery from this service to any of our numbers.
You can have your SMS forwarded for free to an email address or via HTTP(s) (you can also receive SMS in Telegram via webhook). Forwarding to a mobile phone number is available, but for an additional fee.
Yes, the number will remain yours as long as you continue paying the monthly fee. However, if you stop paying, the number will be deleted, and we cannot guarantee that the same number will be reactivated.
Receiving SMS and calls from online services (like WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, etc.), as well as from banks, payment platforms, and international numbers, is not guaranteed with numbers that don’t have the “For registration” label.
These numbers can receive SMS from online services. If you specifically need them for registration purposes, we recommend using numbers labeled “For registration.”

While purchasing a number, pay attention on it’s description. Number mentioned as SMS ONLY will not be able to receive calls. If the number offers to set both calls and SMS forwarding while purchasing, it means it can receive calls as well as messages.
Yes you can but not all SMS numbers provide such a service. Please choose a number that has a ‘for registration’ label or use disposable SMS service.
